You do really need a high wattage soldering iron, I get round it by using my 25w elec one and my gas iron together, Works a treat but you do need about 6 pairs of hands to hold everything

I use a Snap-on gas soldering iron, works well. First rub down the batterys with fine w&d paper or scotch brite, then put some solder down on the battery and link seperatly, then hold the link with one hand (with small pliers) then the battery with the other hand & the soldering iron in the other hand??? or get a battery assembly holder & solder away Well thats how I do it ..............Can demonstrate, by appointment,in private
